Ratangad, meaning the “Jewel of the Forts,” is a 400-year-old hill fort located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. Nestled in the Western Ghats, this fort offers a thrilling mix of history, adventure, and breathtaking views. Surrounded by the Bhandardara backwaters and lush greenery, Ratangad is said to have been one of the favorite forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The trek takes you through dense forests, ancient rock-cut steps, and a natural rock cavity at the top called the Nedhe or “Eye of the Needle.” It’s a perfect destination for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and trekkers alike.
